Product Description

Catena Chardonnay is a white wine produced by Bodega Catena Zapata, a winery located in Mendoza, Argentina. This chardonnay is made from grapes that are grown at high altitudes in the Andes Mountains, which helps to create a wine with a unique flavor profile.

Catena Chardonnay has a light golden color and aromas of tropical fruit, such as pineapple and mango, as well as notes of vanilla and oak from aging in oak barrels. On the palate, it is crisp and refreshing, with a balanced acidity and flavors of citrus, apple, and pear. It is a medium-bodied wine with a long finish.

Catena Chardonnay is a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes, including seafood, poultry, and pasta with cream sauces. It is also enjoyable on its own as an aperitif or with cheese and crackers.

A pretty mineral nose with a creamy layer to the roasted pineapples, lemon and marzipan. Fresh and really textured on the palate with a medium to full body. It has a lightly phenolic, viscous texture and a bright acidity. Very good value.

The 2022 Chardonnay is made with grapes from the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo. Fifty percent of the wine was aged 6-8 months in up to third-use French oak barrels. Yellow with a golden sheen. The nose presents aromas of dill, creamed corn, and pear with hazel- and other nutty notes against a faint oaky backdrop. The palate is indulgent and broad, with a creamy texture and refreshing expression before the lingering nutty finish.

Mendoza is Argentina's premier wine region, located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains and producing about 70% of the country's wine. The region's high altitude, desert climate, and dramatic day-night temperature swings create ideal conditions for grape growing, with irrigation provided by snowmelt from the Andes. Mendoza is world-famous for its Malbec, a grape that originated in France but found its perfect expression in this terroir, producing wines with deep color, rich fruit flavors, and velvety tannins. The region includes several sub-areas like Luján de Cuyo and the high-altitude Uco Valley, each contributing distinct characteristics to the wines. Beyond Malbec, Mendoza also produces excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and increasingly impressive white wines like Torrontés and Chardonnay. The wines are known for their bold, fruit-forward character with good structure, representing a transformation from bulk production to premium quality that has earned international recognition.
Chardonnay is a versatile white wine grape known for producing a wide range of styles, from unoaked and crisp to rich and buttery. It exhibits flavors such as green apple, citrus, and vanilla, making it a popular and widely planted grape variety worldwide. Chardonnay is often associated with Burgundy in France and has found success in regions such as California, Australia, and Chile, showcasing its adaptability to diverse terroirs and winemaking techniques.
